Zoom not opening in chrome – none:
Hi ajaypande jdott16 is correct you must have those device specifications. I think this meets the specifications, but still no blur option on my Mac Air. This is not user friendly at all. I don’t have blur and have the latest Zoom and latest MAC software update. I even restarted the program and nothing.
There is no blur. I cannot believe this fiasco! So many having the same issue as me and not a peep out of Zoom who has been touting their newest feature which doesn’t work!
I screwed around for half an hour on my Windows 10 bit machine, and all of a sudden, a pop-up, I installed it, and there it was! But I have no idea what I did to invoke it. Thereafter, I have been trying to find this patch, to no avail.. Time to move on to some other software. I as well am not able to see a blur option on my virtual backgrounds menu on my laptop.
I have updated Zoom to version 5. Would greatly appreciate any help which could be provided. Same problem I have downloaded what seems to be the latest version, as no download came with the Pro upgrade.
Called support but apparently Pro doesn’t include technical support. Extremely frustrated You do not need to have a pro account to use “blur background”. I see that no comment here has been accepted as a solution for this, so I thought I would weigh in! If you cannot turn off the green screen option for virtual background, then your computer will not be compatible with the blur background feature. It is however an excellent starting point, and if your hardware is lower than the minimums listed here you will not be able to use “blur background” or “virtual background without a green screen”.
Thanks Micah! I do see now the blur option requires a processor of i5 or above and mine is just i3. I don’t know why I didn’t notice that requirement earlier. Anyway, at least I have the explanation now. The processor being an i5 is only half the story, just as important is how old the processor is, how many cores the processor has, and what GPU is paired with it. If the blur background feature is missing from Zoom, the most likely reason for it aside from needing a software update is that your computer isn’t new enough or powerful enough for it.
I currently have the same issue. No option to blur my background. And Yes I meet all the requirements to blur my background. I do not even have an option key to blur it, so this shows me it is an issue on Zoom’s end. Please fix and let me know. Zoom Community. If you’re using Wi-Fi, see if you can plug into a wired connection instead, as it’s likely to be more stable than Wi-Fi, or move closer to your router. This is definitely worth doing if you always have a connection problem on Zoom. If it’s a one-off problem, there’s likely nothing you can do about it except wait for the problem to pass – you could try stopping all other activity on your connection to let Zoom have all the bandwidth available.
Check you’re not muted: When you join a Zoom meeting you’ll normally have to click to activate the microphone, because you’re muted.
Look for the microphone icon in the bottom left hand corner, if it’s crossed out, click it to unmute your microphone. If you’re on the mobile app, you’ll have to “join with audio” to be able to speak or hear sound. If using an external microphone: Many external mics have they own mute feature – make sure the mic itself isn’t muted. Check your Bluetooth connection: If you join a call and no one can hear you, check you’re not connected to a Bluetooth headset elsewhere in the house.
It might be that an existing connection has claimed your audio. Or, if you want to use a Bluetooth headset, make sure it’s properly connected to the device running Zoom. Check the audio source in Zoom: If you’re in a call and no one can hear you, you can click on the up arrow to expand the audio button in the Zoom app. You’ll then see the options available on your computer so you can use the correct microphone.
Check the audio settings in Zoom: Similar to above, if you’re not in a meeting you can open Zoom, open the settings and head to “audio”. Here you’ll have the option to set your preferences as well as test the microphone and speaker on your PC to see if it’s working. If your mic is too quiet, you can turn up the levels here. My Mac can’t access the mic: Sometimes your Mac might say it can’t access the microphone and ask you to restart.
This might then ask for admin permission. Entering your details can then correct the mic fault without having to restart.
Ensure your PC audio settings are correct: If you’ve not been able to fix the problem through Zoom itself, then check your settings or preferences on your computer. Above everything else, check they actually work to help isolate the problem.
